However, if the policyholder dies under suspicious circumstances, such as a homicide or a death that occurred under unclear circumstances, the insurance company will wait for the results of the police investigation before releasing the funds.
Since it’s the beneficiary’s responsibility to initiate the claim process, it’s a good idea to be familiar with the life insurance policy. Ideally, they should have a copy of the contract on hand, as it contains all the necessary information for the claim process.
