They took my car, what do I do? One of the most unpleasant moments that vehicle owners experience is verifying that their car is not in the place where they left it parked. “OMG, they stole it from me”, is the first thing that comes to mind.
But it doesn’t have to be a robbery. When one organizes the emotions, one realizes that the car could have been towed by a tow truck. “It is that there is a sign there that indicates that you cannot park, TOW AWAY ZONE”. Something common in many squares of shopping centers and supermarkets. Although one believes that nothing is happening, there are security guards, whose job is that only users of the Mall or the restaurant in question park there.
What to do when the car is towed away? Well, go to the warning signs where, in general, there is a telephone number, and when you call they will tell you in which depot the vehicle is located. The law says it must be within a 30-mile radius of where it was towed.
To remove the car from the warehouse where the tow truck took it, you will have to go there and pay for the return.
Of course, as the owner of the vehicle, you have the right to inspect it before accepting the return. If you notice any damage due to transportation, you can claim it from the towing company. In addition, said the company cannot use the vehicle as a hostage for you to sign the delivery form, without agreeing to the terms expressed therein.
On the other hand, if you arrive at the car park while your vehicle is being loaded, the towing company must lower it and you pay half the towing fee.
Unfortunately, auto insurance does not cover these incidents. So be careful when parking your car. If you see a sign that says TOW AWAY ZONE, do not go to the beach, because they will take the car to you.
